REALRIDER SOS Unveils Powerful New Upgrade, Delivering Faster Global Crash Detection When It Matters Most

Motorcycle safety technology is evolving — and REALRIDER SOS has announced a significant upgrade designed to do one thing better than ever: detect serious crashes and alert emergency services faster.

Launching on 27 February, the updated version of the app strips away underused secondary features and refocuses entirely on high-performance crash detection and emergency response.

A Clearer Focus on What Matters

Following what the company describes as a major change in leadership and personnel, Chief Operating Officer Steven Robertson has steered the British-developed platform back to its core mission.

“Where we’re pointing the business now is directly at the one thing we do best, and that is crash detection,” he said.

“We need to concentrate on the core function and the reason we exist in the market, which is to keep motorcyclists safe.”

As part of the update, mapping, route recording and group riding features have been removed. While popular with some users, the company says these services are already well served elsewhere in the market.

“There are a number of providers delivering those services incredibly effectively,” Robertson added. “If you’re after safety and not dying at the roadside, use REALRIDER SOS – we’re the best in that market for a reason.”

Faster Alerts, Stronger Infrastructure

Behind the scenes, REALRIDER SOS has invested heavily in upgraded infrastructure, including enhanced data centres and hardware improvements. The goal is simple: deliver crash alerts more quickly and reliably.

The company claims emergency response times are now improved by up to 40% in urban areas and up to 50% in rural locations compared with not using the app.

Global coverage remains extensive, spanning the UK and Northern Ireland, Europe, Japan, the USA, Canada and Australasia. According to Robertson, the underlying systems are now “quicker, more efficient and more accurate.”

Introducing Test Mode

One of the most significant additions is a new in-app test mode. Riders can now check that the system is active and see how it would respond in the event of a serious crash.

“Previously, users had to take it on trust,” Robertson explained. “Now they can test the device. The app will confirm that, and had this been a real event, we would be calling an ambulance.”

The feature is designed to provide reassurance and transparency, giving riders confidence that the system is ready if it’s ever needed.

A New Chapter for REALRIDER SOS

From 27 February, the annual subscription will increase from £36 to £60. The company says the change reflects substantial internal investment in infrastructure, technology and ongoing improvements to crash detection accuracy and response times.

REALRIDER SOS already powers Triumph’s SOS software, and discussions with other manufacturers are ongoing as the company explores further integrations.

For riders, the message is clear: fewer distractions, faster detection, and a renewed commitment to the moments that matter most.
